GRAND FORKS, N.D. - North Dakota’s Carmen Palumbo helped the Fighting Hawks pull off an upset over Idaho State to earn the last Big Sky Conference Tennis Player of the Week award on the season.
Palumbo started doubles play paired with Elly Harnett at the No. 1 spot and took down Idaho State’s top doubles team 6-3. The freshman then followed up with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles as the Fighting Hawks edged the Bengals 4-3 in their season finale.
This is Palumbo’s first career Player of the Week honor as well as North Dakota's first Player of the Week honor this season. Palumbo rounded out her freshman year going 8-11 at No. 1 singles including four wins in league play. She led the UND freshman in wins this season and ranked third on the team in wins.

Palumbo earned her first collegiate win against Creighton on February 2 in No. 1 singles by topping Ashley Ishimura 6-1, 5-7, 1-0 (10-5)

The Fighting Hawks closed out their season with an overall record of 7-12, and a conference record of 4-7.
