GRAND FORKS, N.D. – University of North Dakota junior thrower Molli Detloff was named the Big Sky Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Monday, three days after registering one of the top hammer throws in conference history.

Detloff broke her own school record in the hammer throw last Friday at the NDSU Tune-Up, hitting a mark of 202 feet, 6 inches (61.72 meters) that was also the eighth-best in Big Sky history.

The Elk River, Minn., native now ranks in the top 28 in the NCAA in two throwing events, sitting 25th in the discus (178-3) and 28th in the hammer. Both of those marks currently rank 14th in the west region.

It is the second Big Sky weekly honor of the outdoor season for North Dakota. Sophomore pole vaulter Kyley Foster was named Big Sky Conference Field Athlete of the Week on April 17.

Jamie Stokes of Weber State was this week's Big Sky Women's Track Athlete of the Week, while Utah's Mike Tate (track) and Montana State's Alex Lewis (field) were recognized on the men's side.

Detloff and the Fighting Hawks will compete in the 2017 Big Sky Conference Outdoor Championship in Sacramento on May 12-13.
