GRAND FORKS, N.D.— North Dakota senior middle blocker Faith Dooley was named to the 2017 All-America honorable mention team, announced recently by the website. She becomes the second Fighting Hawk volleyballer to earn all-America accolades after Sydney Griffin (honorable mention) became the first in program history to mark the achievement.

Dooley is coming off of one of the best seasons ever compiled by a North Dakota volleyball player. The Wheatland, N.D., native led the nation in total blocks this season (202.0), surpassing the school’s and Big Sky Conference’s career marks (679.0). She hit .363 this season with a team-high 418 kills and 202 blocks. For her career, she’ll finish atop the school’s record books in blocks (679) and points scored (1,844.0) while also ranking third in career kills (1,438) and third in attack percentage (.333).

Dooley led North Dakota to a school-record 30 wins this season, its second straight Big Sky Conference Tournament championship and subsequent berth in the NCAA Tournament. She was the league tournament MVP for the second consecutive year and became the first-ever UND player earn four all-conference honors (2014- second team, 2015-17 first team).

“For Faith’s final accolade as a member of our program to be named an All-American is pretty special,” UND head volleyball coach Mark Pryor said. “She has re-written the record book here at UND as well as the Big Sky Conference. This is a pretty nice way to recognize her for what she’s done both for this program and the community during her career here.”

While her volleyball career is complete, Dooley is currently on the UND women’s basketball team, where she has appeared in three games, logging a handful of minutes. North Dakota opens its Big Sky Conference schedule Thursday at Idaho as the reigning league regular season champion.
