GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- University of North Dakota head volleyball coach Mark Pryor announced a pair of setter signees for the coming year. The two-time defending Big Sky Conference Tournament champions will be looking to add depth to that position following the graduation of Sydney Griffin, a former honorable mention all-America setter and two-time all-league honoree.

Roosa Rautio, 5'9", S, Rovaniemi, Finland
*Played on U20 Finnish Championship tournament club
*Won the Finnish championship
*2017 Club's Best Junior Player
*Played with numerous former NCAA all-Americans on her club team

Coach Pryor on Rautio:
"Roosa’s high-level experience will help us immediately. Fans will really enjoy the way she plays the game. She could become a fan favorite at home matches very quickly. She plays with a passion that is infectious. She is an elite athlete that will add speed and quickness to the setting position. Once she gets acclimated to how we want to distribute the offense, she can really help contribute to the program’s growth."

Julia Vetter, 5-10, S, Fargo, N.D. (Shanley H.S.)
*Part of a Shanley team that was 23-10 this past fall
*All-EDC player in 2016
*Played volleyball, basketball and ran track at Shanley
*WIll be part of the annual Lion's All-Star Basketball Games with the Class A girls

Coach Pryor on Vetter:
"We have watched Julia over the last four years get better and better. She has been a part of a great high school volleyball program, as well as a great high school basketball program. When she gets here and when she can focus solely on one sport, I really believe that she will add definite value to our program. It’s always great to add another quality student-athlete from our home state."

The duo will join a stacked incoming class that includes five other freshmen that signed in the early period last November: Lexi Ahrens, Darian Chwialkowski, Taliyah Flores, Morgan Hunt, Brynn Nieukirk along with junior transfer from UCONN Kayla Williams

North Dakota is fresh off a 30-win season, a successful defense of its Big Sky Conference Tournament title and another trip to the NCAA Division I Tournament. UND will be transitioning to The Summit League next season, where it will realign with regional rivals such as North Dakota State, South Dakota and South Dakota State.
