Fans and friends of the University of North Dakota basketball teams welcomed the Fighting Hawks home yesterday at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center.

The UND men's team was fresh off winning the 2017 Big Sky championship, sending the program to its first Division I NCAA Tournament. UND will face Arizona on Thursday, March 16.

It wasn't your typical Selection Show for the Fighting Hawks. UND was stuck on a plane when the official announcement came.

Once home, North Dakota was greeted at the airport.

The, the UND Police Department, the best cops around, escorted the teams home.

Back inside the Betty, it was a warm welcome from the Fighting Hawk faithful.

It was also the first time the University of North Dakota women's basketball was home since winning a share of the 2016-17 Big Sky regular season championship. UND accepted a bid into the WNIT and awaits where it will be seeded tonight.
