GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota men's and women's basketball teams will be returning to the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center this evening and UND fans are invited to help us welcome them home.
The Fighting Hawks are expected to arrive at the Betty between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Fans are asked to park in the north or south lots and enter the Betty through the main entrance (parking in the Student Wellness Center lot may result in a parking ticket).
Both teams return home as Big Sky Conference regular-season champions and are postseason-bound. Last night, the men's basketball team defeated Weber State in overtime to win the Big Sky Tournament Championship and earn the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament.
North Dakota’s opponent for the tournament will be determined during Selection Sunday 2017 when the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee reveals the 68-team field. The show begins at 4:30 p.m. Central and is broadcast nationally on CBS.
UND's women's basketball team accepted the program's first-ever WNIT bid and will represent the Big Sky Conference in that prestigious tournament. The WNIT will announce their first-round matchups late Monday night with the full bracket to follow later. Play begins Mach 15.
Join us at the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center tonight to welcome home the Fighting Hawks and salute them for a historic UND basketball season!
