CHARLESTON, S.C. - - The Charleston Southern University Spring Break Invitational is only the second competition for the University of North Dakota track and field team in its outdoor season. However, one thrower has already proven she is working towards big goals.

Molli Detloff once again broke the school discus record with an event winning throw of 178 feet, 3 inches (54.33 meters). Last weekend in Wilmington, N.C. she set the school record with a toss of 176-08 (53.86). She also set the school record in the hammer after being the first UND athlete to throw over 200-plus feet.

Detloff also earned a personal record in the shot put today. Her throw of 46-09 (14.26) earned her a second-place finish and she improved to the fourth spot in UND history. Detloff broke into the record books last weekend with her throw of 43-07.50 (13.47) and held the ninth spot in the top-10.

“Molli continues to hit stellar, elite marks,” said head coach Kevin Galbraith. “To see her throw so well this early on is incredible. She is heading in the right direction towards the first round of the NCAA meet.”

After qualifying for the finals in the 100-meter hurdles yesterday and earning a personal record, Erin Brown once again improved her best mark. Today, she improved her personal-best to 14.59 seconds from 14.94 seconds. Her run moves her from the sixth-best time in UND history to the second.

Other top performances for UND today included Ian Collins with a second-place finish in the discus, Stephanie Clarke with a second-place finish in the 400-meter, Megan Kienholz with a third-place finish in the 800-meter, and Isabel Waite who tied for second in the high jump.

The Fighting Hawks will compete again at the Mondo Team Challenge hosted by Sacramento State on Saturday, April 1.
