GRAND FORKS, N.D.-- University of North Dakota head softball coach Jordan Stevens announced the hiring of Hannah Pomeroy to his coaching staff Thursday. Pomeroy comes to UND after previously coaching at Western Oregon as well as working at JUGS Sports, a company famous for providing automated pitching machine solutions to coaching staffs around the country.

"Coach Pomeroy is a great fit for us at this exciting time for North Dakota Softball," Stevens said. "Her enthusiasm, passion, knowledge, and pitching background will be positive additions for our pitching staff. We look forward to her contributions in aiding us towards our goal of a Big Sky championship."

Pomeroy, a native of Mossyrock, Wash., led Western Oregon in wins (14), strikeouts (80), earned run average (3.44) and innings pitched (156.2) as a senior in 2013. She also slugged .419 with five homers and 17 RBI at the plate. She also played two seasons at Lower Columbia College.

She'll help mentor a Fighting Hawks pitching staff that includes returning senior Big Sky Conference Pitcher of the Year Kaylin VanDomelen. The Banks, Ore., standout became the program's first all-region honoree at the Division I level, ending the regular season as the league leader in earned-run average (1.79), strikeouts (162) and opponent-batting average (.217). Her tremendous season in the circle earned her Big Sky Conference Pitcher of the Year as well as All-Big Sky First Team honors.

VanDomelin's total ERA of 1.84 for the 2017 campaign was the lowest ERA in the program's Division I era and the third-best mark all-time at UND. Joining her on the pitching staff is fellow returning senior Hannah Bergh, who earned 11 wins in the circle last year with a 3.73 ERA and 73 strikeouts.

Stevens and the Fighting Hawks tied the program record for wins last season (23) en route to the school's first Big Sky Conference Tournament berth.
