Chicago, Ill. -- North Dakota senior Daniel Sayler turned in a 73 (+2) to card his lowest score of the fall during final round action of the Northern Collegiate on Monday. Sayler's 73 moved him up 13 spots in the individual standings and he tied for 26th along with teammate Jack McClintock.
The Fighting Hawk duo each finished the 54-hole event at the Beverly Country Club with a 230 (+17) total as UND wrapped up its fall schedule with a 11th-place finish.
Four Fighting Hawks shot in the 70's for the first time in the three rounds of play as they combined for a 307 (+23), which was seven shots better than either of their team rounds on Sunday. UND finished with a 939 (+87). Freshman Patrick Traynor closed with a 78 (+7), while sophomore Jeremy Kirk added a 79 +8) to score for UND.
Illinois blitzed the field, winning by 53 strokes. The Illini finished with a 287 (+3) in the final round to card a 845 (-7) and distance themselves from fellow Big Ten-foe Indiana (898, +46), who took runner-up. Illinois' Giovanni Tadiotto took medalist honors with a 208 (-5) total despite playing as an individual.
UND concludes its fall season with third-round play at the Northern Intercollegiate on Monday.
