Spring, Texas -- It's been a trend this spring for the North Dakota men's golf team to keep improving from round-to-round and Tuesday's effort at the Colin Montgomerie Intercollegiate was no different. The Fighting Hawks posted their season-best round with a 299 (+10) and senior captain Jack McClintock was the catalyst.

McClintock's season-best round from Monday lasted all of 18 holes as he shot an even-par 72 on his final loop around the Augusta Pines Golf Course to better that by a stroke. He also birdied four holes for the second-straight day to the 54-hole event with a team-best 228 (+12).

Juniors Jeremy Kirk and Jordan Smith both posted their best rounds of the tournament in the final with a pair of 76's, while sophomore Patrick Traynor fired his best round of the campaign with a 75 (+3).

The Fighting Hawks combined for 11 birdies on the day, which was their best single-round effort in that department during three spring tournaments. Kirk added three for the second-straight day, while Traynor had two and Smith added one.

"The guys played great today throughout the lineup," UND head coach Matt Stricker said. "There were some short-game issues that we still need to clean up, but I'm so proud of the way they came together after a tough start yesterday. It was fun to watch."

UND's 299 was only bettered by seven teams in the field on Tuesday, but was not enough to move them up in the team standings. Abilene Christian (857; -7) overtook Bradley to capture the team title and beat the Braves (859; -5) by two strokes.

Houston's Pryce Beshoory caught teammate Alexander Frances to win medalist honors, finishing with a 204 (-12) total after carding a final-round 68 (-4). Frances, who held a two-stroke lead going into the day, shot a 71 (-1) and finished a stroke back at 205 (-11).

The Fighting Hawks are now off til the middle of April when they will return to action at the Beu Mussatto Invitational in Macomb, Ill.
