Nebraska City, Neb. -- The North Dakota men's golf team turned in its best round of the UNO Invitational on Saturday to wrap up its season-opening event. Freshman Keaton Wolf turned in the top score for the Fighting Hawks with a 76 (+5) and helped the team shoot a 313 (+25).
After back-to-back 74's, senior Jack McClintock carded a 77 (+6) in his final round to lead UND in the tournament with a 225 (+12) and tie for 18th. Junior Jordan Smith posted three rounds in the 70's and tied for 23rd with a 230 (+17) total.
Wolf cracked the 70's for the first time as a collegian with his team-best 76 and placed 33rd with a 238 (+25). UND finished sixth in the event with a (945; +93) total.
North Dakota State went wire-to-wire to capture the team title with an 867 (+15) total to beat Northern Iowa by 10 strokes. The Panther's Sam DeBartolo took medalist honors witha 209 (-4) total and was even-par or better in each of his three rounds.
The Fighting Hawks return to action at the Derek Dolenc Invitational Sept. 24-25 in Madison, Ill.
