COLUMBIA, Mo.-- Freshman Mitch Raihle took 23rd of the 31 divers competing at the NCAA Zone meet in the 3-meet dive event Tuesday. His 297.05 score highlighted UND efforts on the weekend while fellow freshman Nick Benson was 26th at 267.50.

"This is a learning experience for us being in this type of environment with these types of divers," UND diving coach Brian Strom said. "This is definitely going to help us in the future. Mitch dove and competed real well today. He had four of the six really nice dives and the other two were okay.

"There are a lot of good divers that will do well at nationals here, so I'm very happy with our performance and with our weekend. Now we get into the off-season and working on the things that will help us get better for next year."

Juan Hernandez of Louisiana State ran away with top honors in the event. LSU, Minnesota, Texas, Missouri, Texas A&M, Southern Methodist, Iowa and Wisconsin were among those schools participating.
