GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The University of North Dakota placed 59 student-athletes on the 2016 Big Sky Conference Fall All-Academic Team, it was announced on Friday afternoon by the conference office.
UND’s 59 honorees were the second-most in the Big Sky behind only Eastern Washington.
UND topped the league in women’s cross country (13) and men’s cross country (7) selections, and placed the second-most football players (19) on the list. An additional 12 Fighting Hawks were honored in soccer and eight in volleyball.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA or higher following the most recently-completed term, must have participated in at least half of his or her team’s competitions (or in the conference meet in cross country), and must have completed at least one academic term at his or her institution.
