Grand Forks, N.D. -- It did not take long after the conclusion of the 2017 National Football League Draft for North Dakota offensive lineman Michael Coe to sift through his options and find a professional home. The Carlsbad, Calif., native signed a free agent deal with the Dallas Cowboys.

"After talking things over with my agent, we decided to go with Dallas because they need depth on the offensive line," Coe said. "I feel like that's my best shot to make a roster."

Coe earned American Football Coaches All-America honors and was a first team All-Big Sky selection for the Fighting Hawks, who he helped lead to their best season at the Division I level.

The 6-foot-3, 300-pounder started all 12 games in his lone season for UND after transferring from Western New Mexico -- a Division II school in the Rocky Mountain Conference. Coe was the team's starting center for the first four games before an injury forced him to move out to right tackle for the remainder of the season. He also saw some limited action at left tackle.

As of late Saturday, Coe was not sure when he would report to the reinging NFC East Divsion Champions, but was excited to get his professional career started. Coe's signing marks the second-consecutive year a UND football player has signed a deal with an NFL team.

Last season, linebacker-turned-fullback Will Ratelle signed with the Atlanta Falcons immediately following the draft.  Ratelle was injured during the preseason and recently signed with the Kansas City Chiefs for his second season of professional football.
