GRAND FORKS, N.D. -- The North Dakota football team wrapped up another week of spring practices on Friday at the High Performance Center. The morning session was the 12th of 15 allowed by the NCAA during this semester and Schweigert was pleased overall with the week, but wanted to see his squad have a better finish to Friday's practice heading into the weekend.

"The week was a positive," Schweigert said. "I thought we made a lot of good progress, but we sure need stronger finishes than we had today and that was the message to the team at the end of practice. We want to finish out a week, like we want to finish out a game or finish out a half. We just have to be strong at the finish, so we've got to do better at that and we have three more days out here with an opportunity to improve."

Those three days will culminate next Friday with the program's annual spring game, which is set for a 6 p.m. start inside the HPC. Schweigert wants to see his team take advantage of the early practices next week to clean up some of the small details that become so important when the games are played in the fall.

Schweigert's club went through a scaled-down live version from the one it participated in last Friday, but the Fighting Hawks got about eight full-contact plays in during red zone drills. Senior Brady Oliveira provided the highlight for the offense with an inside run that went for a touchdown as the offensive front provided a nice hole for returning All-Big Sky performer. Sophomore cornerback Hayden Blubaugh knocked down a fade pass intended for Noah Wanzek in the back corner of the end zone to provide a highlight for the defense.

Roster Update
Schweigert also announced some roster changes after Friday's practice. The Fighting Hawks have added defensive back Terrell Jennings to the 2018 signing class. Jennings spent the 2017 season at Santa Barbara City College after prepping for Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs, Colo.  The 6-foot, 195-pounder was part of the 2017 Class 4A Colorado State Championship team and will have four years to play three seasons upon arrival at UND.

Jennings played in eight games for the Vaqueros last season, totalling 26 tackles and corralling two interceptions. He returned one of those picks 91 yards for a touchdown against Compton College and earned second team All-American Pacific League honors in his lone junior college season.

"Terrell has the speed and athleticism to develop into an excellent cornerback at our level and he will compete for playing time immediately when he joins our program this summer," Schweigert said. "In addition to his skill set, Terrell also plays with great desire and effort on both defense and special teams and that really stood out on his film.

“Along with the addition of Terrell, I also want to announce that Tamas Stewart and Ray Haas are no longer with our football program,” Schweigert said. “Unfortunately for Tamas, an injury has forced him to retire and he will miss his final collegiate season and Ray has left the program for personal reasons. We fully support Ray's decision and wish him the best as he deals with his future.”

Haas and Stewart were both reserves on the UND defense last season. Haas made 26 tackles and had an interception in nine games at outside linebacker, while Stewart collected 29 tackles in six games at safety.

Spring Game Coverage
There will be plenty of coverage for UND's annual Spring Game if fans are not able to make it over to the High Performance Center next Friday (April 13). The action will be carried live on Midco Sports Network with its regular crew and also streamed live on PlutoTV Ch. 240. The Home of Economy Radio Network will also be in the building with a pre-game show starting at 5:30 p.m. and coverage lasting two hours on  KFAN 1440 AM in Grand Forks and KFGO 790 AM in Fargo.
