Fighting Hawks turn in improved second round

DALLAS – The University of North Dakota women’s golf team shaved 12 strokes off its second-round score on Tuesday at the ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout. Both Alexis Guggisberg and Jenna Janu shot a 78 (+6) on the day as UND turned in a score of 319 (+31), besting its opening round score of 331 (+43).

Each of the Fighting Hawks had better performances on the second day, as Guggisberg’s 78 was seven strokes fewer than her round one score. Janu shaved one stroke off her score, while teammate Dani DelGreco recorded a 79 (+7), two strokes better than Monday. Both Ally Rogers and Hanna Peterson turned in an 84 (+12) on the day, after both recording an 86 on the first day.

North Dakota remains in 14th in the team race with a score of 650 (+74). Eastern Kentucky continues to lead the group with a 599 (+23).

Alabama State’s Chanelle Avaricio leads all golfers with a total score of 145 (+1) after two days, while she is closely followed by Eastern Kentucky’s Sofie Levin, who is just one stroke behind.

North Dakota will wrap up competition on Wednesday with the final round at the ORU/SFA Spring Break Shootout.
