BOULDER CITY, Nev. -- Juniors Jenna Janu and Hanna Peterson carried the North Dakota's women's golf team for the second-consecutive day as the Fighting Hawks wrapped up play at the Jackrabbit Invitational. Janu posted UND's top score for third-consecutive round with a 77 (+5), while Peterson was only a stroke behind with a 78 (+8).

Janu earned a top-20 finish with a 54-hole total of 229 (+15), while Peterson took 25th with a 234 (+18). Peterson's total was the best 54-hole score of her career and her 25th-place finish was also a career best for a three-round event.

"We put together a solid day until we let a few strokes get away from us there towards the end, but for our first time out on a course this spring, I think we can take some positives into our next tournament," UND head coach Natalie Martinson said. "Jenn was her steady self and Hanna played consistent in each round. That will give her a big confidence boost and really help our team scores moving forward. I also liked how Benna (Pettersen) played here. She's really worked hard at her game and the results are starting to show."

Freshman Ashlyn Guggisberg turned in her best performance of the tournament with a 78 (+6), while sophomore Ally Rogers followed suit with an 81 (+9). With those two scores, the Fighting Hawks registered a final-round 315 (+27), which was a 15-stroke improvement from their second-round tally.

Junior Benedikte Pettersen turned in her best collegiate performance as well for the Fighting Hawks. Playing as an individual, Pettersen posted a career-best 237 (+21) after a final-round 78 (+6).

UNLV ran away with the team title as the Rebels, who are one of the top 40 programs in the country, posted a final-round 282 (-6) to finish at 855 (-9). That total was 53 shots clear of host South Dakota State and North Dakota State, who tied for second with three-round totals of 908 (+44). The Fighting Hawks fell to ninth place after Tuesday's final round at the Boulder Creek Golf Club. It was a 40-stroke improvement on the same course from last year's spring opener for the Fighting Hawks, who will return to the same layout in late April for the 2018 Big Sky Championship.

UND will take a short two-hour drive over to St. George, Utah to begin preparations for the Lady Thunderbird Invitational that begins Thursday.
