Sedona, Ariz. — The North Dakota women's golf team finished a long day of golf at the Oak Creek Country Club late into Saturday evening as junior Jenna Janu paced the way with a 157 (+13) total during the first two rounds of the Red Rocks Invitational.
Janu's second-round 76 (+4) was the low round of the day for the Fighting Hawks as the squad shaved 13 strokes off their opening round score to finish with a 661 total (+75). She sits in a tie for 26th in the race for medalist honors, while UND holds down 15th in the 18-team field.
Host Northern Arizona holds a three-stroke lead on College of Charleston after the Lumberjacks posted a 604 (+28) during their opening 36 holes at the Oak Creek Golf Course.
UND's second-round 319 (+31) allowed the Fighting Hawks to move up two spots in the team standings after a first-round 332 had the team in 17th-place. Freshman Ashlyn Guggisberg and junior Hanna Peterson both carded 164 totals during the opening two rounds. Peterson joined Janu in breaking 80 in the second round with a 79 (+7).
The Fighting Hawks and the remainder of the 18-team field will conclude the 54-hole event on Sunday.
