Boulder City, Nev. -- North Dakota junior Jenna Janu posted the top round of her Big Sky Championship career, holing a field-best six birdies Saturday en route to a season-best 71 (-1). Janu's six birdies are also a UND Division I single-round record as she moved into a tie for ninth.

Junior Hanna Peterson got off to a slow start with a 43 on the front side, but she regrouped to shoot even-par on the back nine at the Boulder Creek Golf Club and register a 79 (+7). Peterson is second among the Fighting Hawks and is tied for 35th.

Unfortunately for the UND, 11 of the 12 teams competing in the league championship also turned in better scores during round two and the Fighting Hawks could not make a move up the team leaderboard and remained in 10th with a 311 (+23).

"We played better and did a better job of managing the course today, but so did the teams ahead of us," UND head coach Natalie Martinson said. "Jenna's round was obviously really good and that certainly helped our team score. We'll try to be a little more consistent tomorrow by eliminating some of those big numbers that keep turning up and turn some of those bogeys into pars and pars into birdies."

Idaho (583; +7) broke its tie with Portalnd State following a 287 (-1) and now holds a five-stroke lead on Sacramento State (588: 12), who matched the Vandals with a 287 (-1). The Vikings (590; +14) dropped to third following a 294 (+6).

The Vandals' Sophie Hausmann, who was four strokes behind leader Sofia Anokhina at the start of the day, fired a 65 (-7) to build a four-stroke lead in the race for medalist honors. Hausmann's round included back-to-back eagles on holes 13 and 14. Anokhina is part of a three-way tie for second at 212 (-2).

The Fighting Hawk trio of Ashlyn Guggisberg, Ally Rogers and Benedikte Pettersen all shot better scores in round two. Pettersen was four strokes better as she carded a second-round 83, while Rogers and Guggisberg were both three strokes better and once again counted toward the team score.

Rogers made three birdies during her 80, while Guggisberg birdied No. 9 en route to an 81 (+9).

Tournament play concludes on Sunday with third-round action.
