ST. GEORGE, Utah -- North Dakota sophomore Ally Rogers continued her strong play at the Hobble Creek Fall Classic, posting a final-round 74 (+3) to cap the best 54-hole score of her young career. Rogers led the Fighting Hawks with a 225 (+12) total and tied for 21st in a tournament that featured a 72-player field.
Rogers' 74 helped UND post its second-consecutive 309 (+23) as the Fighting Hawks placed 11th in with a 931 (+81) total. Junior Hanna Peterson posted her best score of the tournament with a 76 (+5) in her third loop around the Hobble Creek Golf Course. Classmate Jenna Janu matched Peterson's 76 and also turned in her best round of the 54-hole event in Southern Utah.
New Mexico State captured the team title thanks to the strong play of Suthavee Chanachai, who shot a 204 (-9) to beat Grand Canyon's Deanna Salvatori (207; -6) by three strokes. The Aggies (866; +9) leapfrogged Oral Roberts (869: +9) to win the team title after trailing by two strokes entering the day.
The Fighting Hawks return to action next weekend at the Jimmie Fall Classic in Jamestown, N.D. Tournament play starts on Sunday.
