GRAND FORKS, N.D. --- The University of North Dakota women's hockey team dropped a 1-0 decision to Bemidji State tonight at the Ralph Englestad Arena as Keirstin Visser scored on the power play with only 20 seconds remaining in regulation.

Senior defensemen Susanne Fellner (Fronhofen, Germany) and Cassandra Flanagan (Great Falls, Manitoba) along with goaltender Brittany Kirkham (Ottawa, Ontario) and forward Alex Williams (Eagan, Minn.) were honored after the game having played in their final home games.

"I have a lot of respect for those kids graduating," Idalski said. "They have gone through a lot of touch times here and has dealt with a lot of adversity. We came in after a lot of unsuccessful years so I tip my hat to them."

"They are definitely bunch of kids that went through it and came out the other side and definitely had an impact as far as the culture and the way we want to do things. The accountability that we have, the work ethic we have off the ice - they are just tremendous kids and they are all going to be very successful in their careers and future because they are great human beings as well."

Kirkham started in net for the Sioux but Stephanie Ney (100 Mile House, British Columbia) entered the game after Kirkham made an early save in the game. Ney would play out the remainder of the game making 17 saves while allowing only the late goal.

"I thought we had a chance to win," Idalski said. "I thought we had a lot of opportunities, just not finding the back of the net. We still need to do a better job coming down the stretch of games not turning the puck over and clearly not taking penalties. That is hopefully something we can figure out and grow up as a club."

In a low shooting affair by both teams (UND 17, BSU 19), the had its most proficient period in the middle fram with nine shots on goal and multiple scoring chances.

Alana McElhinney has gotten all of the starts for Bemdiji State since regular starter Zuzana Tomcikova left for Team Slovokia and got her second shutout since, also shuting out Wisconsin 2-0 exactly a week ago.

"We have played well in spurts," Idalski said. "For whatever reason I thought we were flat today, but we have been playing really well the second half and it is just about figuring out how to put it together for sixty minutes and being consitant game to game. When your on a role, playing well and put together a couple wins to realize what got you there. How to continue to play with that kind of energy and that kind of passion."

The Sioux finished the game 0-for-4 on the power play while BSU went 1-for-3.

The Sioux will close out regular season action next weekend in Mankato, Minn., against WCHA rival Minnesota State.
