About Omaha
The Mavericks returned from their Christmas break with a non-conference sweep of Lake Superior State, winning 4-1 on Friday and 5-3 on Saturday.

Senior forward Austin Ortega was named NCHC Offensive Player of the Week after a 4-point series in which he tied an NCAA record with his 23rd career game-winning goal on Friday.

In 20 games this season, Ortega has 27 points and leads UND’s Shane Gersich (So., Chaska, Minn.) by two points in the conference scoring race. Those two are tied with Western Michigan’s Matheson Iacopelli with a league-leading 14 goals.

Classmate Ian Brady was named NCHC Defenseman of the Week after collecting four assists in the series, include a career-high-tying three on Saturday.

Ortega, Brady and the Mavericks are firing at a league-best 26.7 percent on the power play and boast the league’s top offense at 3.65 goals per game.
