Position: Assistant Coach
Hometown: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
High School: George Washington H.S.
Other College: Northern Iowa

Katelin Oney begins her second season on the UND bench as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season. Oney, a Northern Iowa standout as a player, came to UND from St. Mary's University, an NCAA Division II school in Texas. UND was 20-11, won the Big Sky Conference regular season title and advanced to the school's first WNIT appearance in her first season on campus.

"Katelin has been through the rigors of advancing herself in the coaching ranks-- from a high school assistant, graduate assistant as well as a full time assistant in the college ranks," Brewster said at the time of her hiring. "She impressed me with her tenacity about recruiting, player development and enthusiasm for the program here at UND. I've witnessed her tireless work ethic as a player that paid off with two trips to the NCAA tournament. Her passion has carried over into her professional career to teach as well as to coach."

Oney helped lead St. Mary's to an 18-10 overall mark this past season. The Rattlers advanced to the Heartland Conference Tournament semifinals, before falling to top-seed and undefeated Lubbock Christian. Three Rattlers were named to the league's all-conference teams (one second team, two honorable mentions).

Prior to St. Mary's, Oney spent two years as a graduate assistant at Wayne State College, part of a nationally-ranked Wildcat team that won back-to-back Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference championships. In her two years, the Wildcats of Wayne State College posted a 56-11 overall record.

At NCAA Division II Wayne State, Oney's primary duties included recruiting, assisting with guard fundamentals, assisting with player development in the offseason and provided critical analyses of game film to create scouting reports, among others.

Oney was a standout player at the University of Northern Iowa, where she led the Panthers to the first Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championship in school history. Oney helped lead the Panthers to back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference Tournament championships and two straight NCAA Tournament appearances.

A team captain as a senior, Oney was an all-tournament team selection and ended her career fifth in the program for three-pointers made and ninth in three-point field-goal percentage.

Oney originally hails from Brewster's hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, graduating from George Washington High School. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education with a minor in literacy in 2013 from UNI and her master's degree in educational-instructional curriculum leadership with an emphasis in elementary education in 2015 from Wayne State.
