For one practice this fall, the University of North Dakota swimming, diving and softball teams switched sports.

The goal, coaches said, was to give insight on what other student-athletes go through each day, learn from each other and make a stronger UND.

"We always want our athletes to be diverse in their athletic endeavours," swimming coach Chris Maiello said. "I think this is going to be a fun way to do this."

The softball team learned about the swimmer's warm-up, how to properly enter the water and competed in a few races. There was also some time for some fun swim tricks, including dropping a swim cap onto one's head and fitting a whole person inside the cap.

The swimmers, meanwhile, learned baserunning techniques, proper defense and fielding, and stepped into the batting cage to face live pitches.

"It was fun. It was different for me," softball coach Jordan Stevens said. "We're all UND proud, and we're all in this together. It was really nice seeing two teams come together."
