DES MOINES, Iowa-- The University of North Dakota men's tennis team will open its 2017 fall season in similar fashion to the UND women, heading down to the Drake Invitational.
It will be the first of three fall events lined up for North Dakota, now in it sixth season after being renistated prior to the 2012-13 campaign. This weekend's event is a 10-team field: Coe College, Creighton, Gustavus, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, Northwest Missouri, Omaha, Tulsa, UND and host Drake.
Daniel Martinez and Lukas Buth are slotted in the singles flight which features 16 players. Davide Callegari and Annei Laska will compete in the second flight while Ben Yeacker and Hunter Terrell will be in flight three. Matt Hokanson, Eden Mrozek, Nicholas LaPoint and Alex Mailes will also come out of the fourth singles flight.
In doubles, Martinez and Buth will team up along with Laksa/Callegari and Hokanson/Yeacker in the top bracket. Mrozek/Lapoint and Mailes/Terrell appear in the second doubles flight.
The fall schedule continues next week in Omaha, Neb., with the Creighton Invite followed by the ITA Regionals Oct. 19-23 in Minneapolis, Minn.
